I have an Elan II and will be getting the 420EX this week. I am taking a
family portrait in the next week or so (I mostly do landscape, macro, and
some family but stayed away from portraits until I got my flash because of
the washed out pictures I got from using the internal flash).
The shot is indoors, 8-10ft white ceiling, family of four, I was thinking of
bouncing the flash off the ceiling. I am debating buying a soft box, that
works like a diffuser by shooting the flash striaght up into the soft box
and sending soft light for the portriat.
An example of the type of soft box I am looking at can be seen here

Does anyone have any experience using a softbox? and what have the results
been, is it worth the $45 bucks? I was at a recent wedding and the
photographer had one on his camera but I did not want to bother him with
questions because I realize he was working.
Would this be good to use for portraits if all I am using for a flash is my
420EX?
Thank you,
John Mac
