A few days ago someone asked about home-copy-slides.
The set-up I use for non-critical slides is shown in the jpeg link
below.

http://www.st-abbs.fsnet.co.uk/tempery/slidecopierx.jpg

Essentially it is the end unit from a "Jessops" slide copier (totally
crap quality) that just happens to be a snug fit in one size of
cardboard postal tube. To make the copier "zoom" a slighly larger
diameter cardboard tube just fits the lens barrel. Electrician's tape
is wrapped around the inner tube to give a snug fit. The tubes are
stained black on the inside to reduce internal reflections.

I tend to use a 12mm or 25mm tube behind the lens to give "just over"
1:1 when copying as you can never precisely get full frame lined up
even with the 1n.

I find f8 on the lens works best for this set up.

I use either daylight or manual flash: TTL flash does not work too
well at all. I suspect it has something to do with the amount of IR,
the IR sensitivity of the flash metering and the fact that film is
almost transparent to IR.

Anyway: FWIW ... it works fine.
