Any eos user tried the new metz 54 mz-3.
I was considering the 500ex until i read about the metz54 mz-3. Therefore,
I would appreciate any input from anyone who has compared these two flashes.

I am getting one for testing next week. From my questioning the rep on it,
what I found out is that the Metz 54MZ-3 provides you all (almost all) the
features of the 550EX and can use different modules so if you use more than
just a Canon camera. In other words, if you use Canon and say a Contax 645
or Leica M6TTL, you can use the flash with two different modules for those
two cameras instead of having two flashes. The flash is a nice change from
the older metz with its new Cobra shape making it look more like a 550EX.
The only difference is really that when you use it in wireless TTL mode it
requires you to have a different module mounted on the receiver. You still
need 2 flashes and the Canon ST-E2 transmitter cannot be used with the Metz.
The 550EX GN is 180 while the Metz is 177 at 105mm. The 550EX has 17mm
coverage the max of the 54MZ-3 is 20mm.
Will know more next week.
