Sorry to steer you off course but I trust this group and would like a down-to-earth answer to a simple question for a serious hobbyist. I want to buy a light set up for home which will allow me to take professional shots of my family, including infants. I own the 1V and two 550 EX flashes. Does putting them in a softbox offer sufficient light from 6-8' away? Am I better off buying a powerful strobe unit with a softbox and reflector? I'm willing to spend some money but I'm not a professional. Any ideas would be appreciated.
