Canon does not make Batteries themselves as far as I know. I use my EF 2.8/20-35 mm L, and I don't like the 17-35 mm too much in comparison to that. Tried the 14 mm, and I think this is the way to go. Also had a look at the Sigma, and dropped it very fast. No real comparison.
