Well, with the BP-300, you can use either the CR123's *or* 4 AA's, and it has an
AE lock button.
It's a nice addition to the Elan7, as it makes it much nicer to hold. Methinks
it costs so much simply because Canon can get away with it, though.
I would guess the manufacturing costs to be something like $15 a unit on the
outside. For USD $99 MSRP, you would think they could include a control wheel
for the aperture & shutter speed.
I mean, come on, we're talking about darn near 1/5 the cost of the camera body.
Sheesh!
