Hello all;

I'm in the process of looking for a 400 mm 5.6 lens (EOS of course!) to
add to my
collection. I plan on using this lens for wildlife, mainly deer and
occasionally some larger birds such as ducks/geese and eagles. I would
like to have the Canon 400/5.6L, but
even used it is out of my price range. That leaves me with buying
(used) either one of Sigma's 400 mm APO lenses or Tokina's AT-X400. Does
anyone have any experience with either of these lenses? How much
difference is there between Sigma's HSM and non-HSM version in terms of
focusing speed? What about the focusing speed of the Tokina lens? What
the optical qualities and construction of these lenses? Quality loss with
a 1.4x???

Thanks for any information!!

Sincerely;

Scott
