According to information released on www.maxwell.com.au (Nikon's Australian
distributor) last Thursday (and removed last Friday) Nikon is in fact
releasing a new manual focus 35mm SLR, an update for the venerable and
venerated FM2n. The new camera combines the manual battery independent
features of the FM2n with TTL/OTF flash and aperture priority AE with
battery in place. Response on the Nikon Digest has been exultation.
Two new D1 siblings were also announced -- the D1H retains the same chip of
the original D1 with a larger buffer for an increased "burst" rate, and the
D1X includes a new larger chip.
Your post reveals your jealousy and envy that your poorly designed,
aperture-ring-free and misaligned EF lenses won't fit on these remarkable
fine machines. <vbg>.
Other announcements included a new manual focus "pancake" 45mm lens, a
redesigned 300/2.8 pro lens, and a new SB-50DX flash.
