Well, check the archives, we just about kicked the bucket on this subject.
As long as you protect against flare, a good tripod + head + remote release
is going to be significantly more important for your night scenes (assuming
natural light, long exposures) than the lens.
It'd be helpful to know what you're comparing against (ie, what are your
options), but in the <$100 bracket, it really can't be beat.
