With fully manual (non-EF-compatible) lenses the body (at least
my EOS-3) shows aperture 00 which is normally fine...
...BUT: If you have the CF activated which allows you to select
aperture even if there is no lens attached in the body you need
to MANUALLY select the largest aperture (e.g. f1.0 in EOS-3).
This is true at least with my EOS-FD macro adapter.
I don't know if the exposure would be correct in any case
but at least the selected aperture value in the body has effect
on the displayed shutter speed value.
