I think RA-N3 converts T3 to N3.

Three. I believe they are all the same but Canon likes switching
the connectors.

I believe yes if you cut the cable and add another connector.

I would cut it somewhere in the middle and use D9 connectors
(though they are a bit large) to make it operational as it was
before you cut it (thus for EOS3/1V).

Then buy a short/long cable and another D9 connector
and a 2.5mm connector for the camera end. Make this cable so long
that you can fit some hook in it which you hook in the camera when
you use the remote switch. This will decrease the load in the
tiny 2.5mm connector.

Now you have the following cables:

TC-80N3_handle--------D9_male

D9_female--------N3_male (for_EOS3/1v)
D9_female--------2.5mm_male (for_EOS30/50/...)

Now you can easily get more extension by making a

D9_female-------------------------D9_male

cable.

Can't remember the pin order but the basic idea is that there
are two switches in the remote switch: half-press connects the
first one and full-press connects the second one. Common ground.

If you like you can select some other connector instead of D9.
