In the UK they are usually around 3500 UKP and given US prices usually
equate US$ prices, you've probably found a reasonably priced one. Depends
on the condition of course - if its been used professionally it might look
like my 300 - battered to hell!

Interesting - they are about on par with Canon in the UK. But you don't
see used AF-S Nikkors anywhere near as often over here. Interesting to
read about this new verison of their 300 AF-S - about a pound lighter.

I wanted to buy the IS version of the 300 but I simply couldn't justify
the price. Maybe when used ones appear, I'll reconsider. The availability
of the IS verison has certainly pushed the price of the non-IS down - you
can now buy Ex++ examples for around 2200 UKP. IMHO there's absolutely no
point buying lenses like this new (unless you absolutely need the latest
version) - you can save a forture buying used and all my EOS gear was
bought used.

Sorry - no idea. I believe all the IS versions are not quite as sharp
because of the extra optics but I very much doubt anyone could see the
difference in the results.
Chris.
