Hey all, this is a bit of a follow-up to a previous thread, that discussed
some ideas for extending the reach of the RS60E3 remote switch. I stopped
by my local Radio Shack and they didn't seem to have any 2.5mm (submini)
extension cables, but they did have 3.5mm. So, I bought a 3.5mm extension
cable and a pair of adapters (2.5 - 3.5 and back again).
However, when plugged into the camera, the camera behaves as if the shutter
is being held down half-way; i.e., the autofocus is constantly being
engaged, the metering information shows on the top LCD, etc. Anyone have
any ideas why it's doing this, and what I can do to fix it? Is it just a
problem of having too many things on the wire between the camera and the
switch? BTW, all of the parts are mono--maybe everything needs to be
stereo, so there's multiple wires inside the cable? I don't know. Any help
would be appreciated. :)
