Do this mean the camera then *knows* it is metering through a lens stopped
down to f/64 or whatever you dial in? Stopped down metering is the only
way to meter through lenses without electronical connections anyway, but
will sometimes result in metering errors. Is this the cure for that problem?

This has worked from day one with any EOS camera I think. Mine all do it.
