I just found something out about Canon. I'm not if this is public
knowledge, so I appologize for wasting you time if it is.

Canon has been upgrading their cameras, lenses, and flashes where there is
still a number of the old design units in their wharehouses. Their old and
new products overlap for a period at which time Canon hope their old stock
will be bought up. This is not happening with several of their lenses as
Canon transitions over to the IS series of lenses.

Recently I have purchased two of these lenses, previously not affordable for
the amount of usage they would receive.

100-300 mm, F5.6 "L", $329, sold as new

300 mm, F4.0 "L", $599, sold as used 10+ condition

Both lenses were brand new, in their original boxes. The 100-300 mm lens
came with the Canon warrenty. The 300 mm came with a three month store
warrenty, but sold in the "used" department. The Canon box sealing tape was
still in place. All accessories were included with both lenses. I
purchased both lenses at B&H.
