Here is the quote from the Canon USA website:

http://www.usa.canon.com/camcambin/cameras/eflenses/extender1.4x.html

"The new EF 1.4x II extender replaces the previous (and highly regarded)
EF 1.4x extender. New on the EF 1.4x II is added weather-resistance to
the front and rear mount surfaces to match the level provided by the
EOS-1v and the new IS super-telephoto lenses."

Where does it say the teleconverters are drop proof because of rubber
gaskets on either end on the lens mounts? And I am pretty sure that
lenses of the mass of the 300, 400, 500 and 600 IS lenses are not drop
proof. I'm not about to drop test my 500mm lens from any height higher
than one inch on a padded surface. I'll give you the point that the
EOS-1v pretty much is drop proof but what does that have to do with it's
weather-resistance? I am not about to drop test either of my EOS-1vs
either. Where did you get this idea and why are we having this
discussion?
