Welcome to the EOS era, I did the same from A1 to A2 four years ago and have
shot ssssoooo many rolls of films in comparison that I should have bought
stocks in Kodak and Fuji.
Assuming you are somewhere in USA, the best place for repair seems to be
Horizon Camera out west coast (someone please provide the URL, I don't
recall myself), they not only fix the command dial problem with a metal h/w
so that it won't break again, they can also update your A2 to and EOS 5
(non-North American model), which has a better exposure display and
automatic pop up of the built-in flash if ambient lighting is insufficient,
this is kind of nice at times when you didn't realize there isn't enough
light until you press the shutter, the camera beeps (in Program mode) but
won't take the picture, then you have to lower the camera, look for the
button to pop the flash then recompose again.
Enjoy EOS, you won't regret it.
Regards,
Ken
