Yes, just use the creative modes.

I can not think of a downside. I wanted the better exposure display, infact
I had purcheased a gray market EOS 5 as a second body and used it
more oftem because it has the display.
I sent mine to Horizon Electronics too. I got very good service and it had it back
within two weeks of when I sent it out, I'm out here in western South Dakota.
As mentioned before, they clean and adjust it while they have it. Well worth the
money.
