I agree! I dont' like the idea of going backwards when I 'upgrade' but my 
major problem is my third party lenses.  I have two Tokinas that it looks like 
would cost me about $160 to get to work on the Elan 7 so I would have to add 
that amount to the purchase of the Elan 7.  Of course if I didn't have any 
third party lenses I would probably get the Elan 7.  Unfortunately right now I 
can't afford the Canon equivalents of these lenses...so until I can afford 
different lenses I'm stuck trying to get a better body that fits my lenses and 
is an improvement over the Rebel 2000....
