I've seen that, too, but I don't really buy it.  AF
isn't 100% accurate.  Predictive, continuous AF
especially.  Neither is TTL flash or auto-exposure,
but you'd have a hard time selling a pro camera with
either one missing.  

Some pros DO use the EOS 3 and ECF, many pros don't. 
Just as some pros still manually focus their EOS
lenses, and some still use external meters.  Pros (and
amateurs) who don't trust ECF, or find it unreliable,
can just turn it off.
