        The EF 50 1.8 II has a fixed rear element (or at least mine does) so how can
        where it is focused make a difference. For what it's worth I use mine with a
        Kenko Pro 300 2x as a lighter weight option for a portrait lens than the
        EX 70-200 2.8 HSM. It seems to work reasonably well although focussing
        performance deteriorates quickly in low light.
