Are you sure?!?
When I turn the focusing ring, the rear element clearly moves. I'd guess all
the optics are moved as one, because the front of the lens extends as much
as the rear element recedes.
Mine looks exactly like the pictures at the canon camera museum or the b&h
web site.

I wonder if there are different versions or revisions of this one lens (the
plastic mk2 version, I know there's a metal 'mk1' version).
