Hello, I've used Kenko's auto extension tubes with Canon's 75-300 USM with good results for insects and flowers. I have a picture on my webpage (which is under construction) that used this combination. If you are interested take a look at http://www.myworldthruphotography.homestead.com/ and look at the picture of the empty locust casing above the "insects" category (which was taken with the 75-300 and the kenko extension tubes...I don't remember how much extension I used though). I've also used Canon's 28-105 with the extension tubes for flowers and had good results. Another inexpensive option for a good macro lens is an older Sigma 90 mm f2.8 macro lens. If I remember correctly (and I may not be) this lens rates out really well on the photodo ratings. It is slow to autofocus (and noisy) but when doing macro work I find that I manually focus anyway (as mentioned by several others). I got this lens used on ebay for ~$200 (US) and I've gotten some really nice flower shots with it. I know that 2 others just sold for almost that same price on ebay. Hope this helps out some! Have a nice day :) >since I"m considering an extension tube set myself for my 75-300. Have you >actually tried this combo? With my Kenko 2X extender, it's a fine macro lens >at 600mm - I can go almost 1:1 at 6 feet. I just want to avoid the extra >glass to get better images. > Scott "You must be the change you wish to see in the world" -Gandhi * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
