I second the Sigma 90/2.8 macro. Some of my work with

Look at "Sunshine", "Fallen", and "Rooted."
Yes, it's noisy, but manually focused, it is
absolutely silent. =)
And Yes, the AF is slow (but if we're talking MACRO
work, then you're manually focusing anyway).
And Yes, you need the accessory lens to go to 1:1 (it
does 1:2 by itself), but if you're gonna go to 1:1,
you're gonna need some time to set up your shot
anyway, so take a few seconds more to slap on that
sucker.
Realistically, I was saving up for Canon's 100/2.8,
but I ended up walking away from a certain auction
site with a BRAND NEW sample of this lens for roughly
$125! (And Yes, I got lucky.) An as I mentioned
earlier, Sigma upgraded my lens to Elan7 specs for
free late last year.
BTW, Photodo's rating for the 90/2.8 is 4.2.
