G'day Justin,

With my Elan 7E (equivalent to EOS 30) in bulb mode, the RC-1 wireless
release behaves as a "T" release, i.e.
  push once = open shutter
  push 2nd time = close shutter, and advance to next frame

So, you don't have to worry about the batteries on the RC-1 for long
exposures.  But you DO have to worry about the EOS 30 battery drain.
