Hi Ken,
Checking the DX code routinely is a definitely a good idea.
Another, more obsessive method is to disable the DX sensor entirely, and
force yourself to set the code manually for every roll :-)
According to:

the only difference between ASA 200 and ASA 3200 is a contact on pin 4
of the DX code
Could the EOS 3 DX pin 4 be bent or misaligned?
The DX sqaures (#8,9 & 10) that code for the length of the roll are on the
second row. All of my EOS cameras only have one row of DX contacts, and
therefore do not read the film length or exposure latitude data.
How many rows of DX contacts does the EOS-3 have?
