Hi Michael,
You make a good point about the importance of having
a histogram function on a digital camera: flash meter
and polaroid all rolled into one!
I looked quickly through the online D30 manual at:
http://powershot.com/powershot2/customer/manual.html
but it is not very clear about E-TTL flash metering.
On the Elan 7E, CF8=1 links the flash sensor to the
AF sensor, even FEL, for off-centre subjects.

Can the D30 E-TTL flash sensor be linked to the selected
