Mike, Actually this is easy to fix. The problem is there is a
little extra play when the focusing screen drops into it's nest. During
shipment the camera gets thrown around and banged up and the focusing
screen occasionally shifts around. Sometimes you can hit the side of
the camera body with the palm of your hand and it will shift the
focusing screen to the correct alignment. Sometimes you have to release
the door and move it around with the end of a paper clip or something
small. Be careful not to touch the surface. Keep looking through the
viewfinder until the screen is properly aligned. Once it is aligned you
should never have to mess with it again unless you change the focusing
screen again or clean it.
VERY IMPORTANT! The surface of the focusing screen is very soft. Be
very careful not to touch the surface or you will have a scratch which
is very irritating. If you get a fingerprint on the surface it's almost
impossible to clean. Ray Amos
