Since at the moment there is no alternative to it - yes,
I'd buy it again. But I am not totally happy with it,
especially the poor flash performance and the weak AF
are a major pain in the ass.

Because of their contract with Kodak Canon was not
allowed to market a pro grade digital camera on their
own. That included exact specs about what the AF of
such a pro grade camera was allowed to do.
The D30 AF is certainly capable of doing far better,
but was tuned down in order to meet the contracted
agreement with Kodak.

One thing to add to what you find there:
Turning the lens AF switch to manual will make the
camera meter the flash without emphasizing AF fields
in exactly the metering mode you specified.
