Less ability to control depth of field due to smaller maximum aperture.

Macro lenses are traditionally corrected for 1:4 where non-macro lenses
are corrected for 1:10 or infinity.  This may make your macro lens less
sharp at long distances.  Modern floating-element macro's make make this
point moot.
