  Rumors have been circulating about two new Canon digital bodies before the
end of the year.  So, figure that the resale value of the D2000 will be
zilch as soon as they come out.  Buy the older body only if you positively
can't wait or if you will make back quite a bit more than the price of the
D2000.
  BTW, have you tried a D2000 in the field?  My memory may be playing
tricks, but I remember discussions about very noticeable shutter lag and
such.  You may want to check the archives before you leap.
