Hi folks -
Reporting from NY - which has to be one of the most photogenic cities on the
planet! And B&H is an amazing place! Think I have to go back . . .
Anyway, picked up the BP-300 as of discussion a few says ago, and have the
following to report:
Pros: I like it! No perceptible wobble in the mate with my camera, but
then, it's brand new. Don't have my tripod with me, so I'm unsure about that
off-center tripod thread. Even without using it for vertical grip, I like
the way it improves the camera's fit to my - large - hand. Very secure
feeling, more like one of the high-end cameras. Another unanticipated bonus
is the fact that it signifiucantly improves the way the camera hangs with a
flash mounted. Counterbalances it, plus it provides more flat surface
against your body to stabilize it.
Cons: New program shift location when vertical will take some getting used
to, now assigned to the zoom/focus left hand chore list. Position of QC
dial works just as well in vertical, but of course FP selector orientation
is different. Makes it a little harder to fit camera in a small
walking-around gadget bag, in which I keep a flash and another lens, but a
little rearrangement and it's ok. I think I will have to go back and get
the E-1 hand strap, which IMO should be included. So as you can see, nothing
major. I'm glad I bought it!
