The British are more strict than the Germans. When you are leaving the UK by air,
everything must go through the X-ray machine. While it won't hurt to ask for a hand
inspection, don't take it personally if the the friendly guard with the automatic
weapon politely declines your suggestion. Frankly, our film is less important that
200+ lives. The x-ray machines at Gatwick and Heathrow are mostly harmless.
In general, buy your film before departure. The film you want to use may not be
available at your destination.
