If having working equipment by a certain time is important, then rent the item and buy
it mail order at a later date. Or, buy the item from a local camera shop. If the item
turns out to be defective, it would take at least two weeks to get a replacement item
by mail order, and you cannot afford that.

It's a little bit like the stock market. You have to decide if waiting for a better
price is worth the risk of not having a purchase at all.
