Hi Rob, I have these two lenses. The 28-135 is a great alround lens with a
very useful focal length. Pic's sharp, good contrast, I.S. useful. Slower AF
than the 28-70/2.8L but otherwise no negatives. I bought it for a specific
purpose last year but liked it so much I kept it. The 70-200/4L was
recommended to me as an alternative to the 2.8 version. I have used it
frequently on a variety of jobs, including motorsports, and it has performed
very well. The optical quality is the same as the 2.8 and I haven't yet been
let down in terms of AF performance. Great value for money, I have no plans
to trade up to the 2.8 version yet.
