Bob, I don't have any factual information for you, but I do live in
Victoria, Australia. I can say the number of D30's, XL-1 & GL-1's I have
seen outside of shops is 0. That dosent mean they dont exist, it's just
that I haven't seen anybody using them. I haven't been offered any second
hand equipment cheap. Check out http://www.melbournetradingpost.com.au to
look for second hand stuff - it's the local trading mag.

Also, in the camera stores in the city I visit, I haven't seen any Canon
gear that would be considered cheap. Also, I would estimate the number of
D30's in VIC to be less than 100, and most of them would be owned by the
papers, etc. If there are any for sale, I would be very surprised. The
biggest pro store here in the city only ordered 5 when they first came out.

I wish I knew the cheap source of digital camcorders though.. I just bought
a MV3i-MC last week (Elura 2MC in the US) and am very happy with it.

All I can suggest is that maybe it's the exchange rate? - selling stuff
overseas makes sense at the moment because the AUD is so weak.
