The advertising brochure that I got when I bought my first
620 (back in 1987) says that all EOS autofocus lenses are
either AFD or USM.  The brochure is PUB. C-CE-272A.  The
EF 50mm f/1.8 data sheet that came with the lens does NOT
say anything about the drive motor.
