Some, but not a lot, of help in Petersen's Photographic Magazine

One answer might be just to fix contrast in the darkroom, or scan
the film and adjust sensitivity curves in Photoshop. Or even better
is to use a D2000 or D30, and make the sensor behave like any film
you like!
