Your exposure compensation scale becomes the light meter scale for manual
metering mode.
So instead of having a simple + or - sign showing, you center the bar on
the display in as would normal do for no exposure compensation in the other
modes. And... you can offset your exposure by not centering the bar. I
had it down years ago, big improvement if you use the manual metering mode.
