I am not so sure about that. Many professionals/papers
have big investements in lenses. Changing from one
brand to another is not as cheap as just replacing an
expensive body. So far Canon came out with a digital
'amateur' SLR but has not released the professional
body yet. Because of that big investment in lenses
Canon can afford to be a bit late. Unfortunately, not
much anymore. If they do not come out with a good body
by this year they sure will lose considerable ground
in some areas.

I completely disagree. Check out the St. Petersburg Times In Florida, they
are selling all their old Canon gear on ebay because they have moved to
Nikon digital. Where time is of the essence there is no loyalty to a
company that does not help you make money. If digital helps beat out the
competition by getting you what you need faster companies will move
regardless of what they have as an investment. The reseller market is still
good and they know it.

The local papers here in California are moving from Canon EOS to Nikon
digital too. The beige lenses are now a seldom seen thing at sports events.
Almost all Nikon.
