Of course--you are doing the right thing. The "pros" do that too. In my
case, I've realized that I'm spending about 20 hours per week scanning
negatives and that a decent, Nikon D1-like camera would alleviate the need
to do so. Money-wise, that's worth a lot to me. It would also save me
about $2,000 per year in film and developing costs. As a result, I complain
about Canon's digital offerings by noting the shift in camera sales among
newspaper pros. When Canon gets off their duff, I'll stop complaining.
