Hi Howard,
Great ON TOPIC questions for this forum. Especially if you are
overwhelmed by the instruction manual, and do not have time to
read it thoroughly.
1) The Canon metering timeout is 6 seconds, not four seconds.
2) Exposure information always displayed on the top LCD panel.
3) Use M mode to see what settings were used for shooting.
4) The RS60-E3 wired remote will allow remote operation
without timing out. I allows other functions that cannot
be achieved by other means. See:
http://eosdoc.com/manuals.asp?q=Elan7AEBMLU
5) To wake the camera after a 4 minute wireless remote timeout,
half-press the shutter release button. (Page
6) The last answer is not in the manual.
There is a fifty-nine cent "custom function" to prevent the
4 minute wireless timeout altogether. The Julian technique
is to use a 2.5mm MONO (not STEREO) plug, similar to:
http://radioshack.com/search.asp?find=9100727
If you insert this into the wired remote socket, the camera
will behave as if you are holding the shutter button half
pressed continuously, and will not timeout.
Until the batteries run out.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Cheers
Julian Loke
