More great questions. This time, I'll answer without inline
quoting to prevent confusion, and in keeping with the List rules.
1) Sorry, I left out "Page number 80" for the Elan 7E instructions
to wake from the 4 minute IR-remote timeout.
2) You can overcome the "program shift" timeout issue by using
manual or Tv or Av modes.
3) You can overcome the DOF timeout by unlocking the lens with
the aperture stopped down, then partially rotating the lens
while it is still in the EF bayonet. As WJM warned once, be
careful to relock the lens before it accidentally falls out!
4) The 2.5mm MONO plug is an exact fit for the RS60-E3 socket.
The electrical function is the same as if you half pressed the
shutter release button. In fact, you can make your own wired
remote release have a timeout override function by modifying
Chantal Currid's circuit:
