If I were you, I'd go straight to the top, and contact:
Hajime Tsuruoka
President, Canon Europa N.V. and Managing Director,Canon Europe Ltd.
Bovenkerkerweg 59-61
1185 XB Amstelveen
The Netherlands
Tel: +31-20-545-8545
By the way, I got this information from the following web pages:
http://www.canon.com/about/outline/executive.html
http://www.canon-europa.com/contact/contact.html
http://www.canon-europa.com/media/downloads/contract.pdf
I would not send a fax unless I knew for sure that it would be received by
Mr Tsuruoka's office. A letter would be better.
In my experience, this approach works well. About a year ago, I had a
persistent problem with an EOS lens. The problem continued over several
months, and several rounds of sending the lens to the Canon USA repair
centre in Irvine, CA. I did not feel that the repair centre was making
sufficient effort to resolve the problem. So I wrote directly to Mr Yukiaki
Hashimoto, who was then (and perhaps still is) Vice President and General
Manager of the Photographic Products Group for Canon USA, at Canon USA's
corporate headquarters (One Canon Plaza, Lake Success, NY 11042-1198). I
received a very prompt reply from Mr Edward Yamamoto, who was (perhaps
still is) Assistant Director, Camera and Video Service Division. After
that, I received excellent service from the Irvine Service centre, and they
resolved the problem in one week.
I wish you luck in improving the service you receive from Canon's
distributor in Portugal.
Gerry
