What about a Macro or a Flash bracket? The Manfrotto 330 is GREAT to place the
flash anywhere in the surroundings of the camera. I combined it with a mini ball
head to place the flash on and it's incredible flexible in terms of setups. I
was even able to *backlite* a flower at a 1:1 magnification with the 100/2.8
macro (USM version).
I also have an Hama Flash bracket that's very useful to just take the flash out
of the top of the camera and move it away from the lens axis (0-risk of red eye,
even with longish lenses). Combined with a Omnibounce it gives really good
results.
There're many options out there :-)
Now: I repeat my wish to Canon, one I wished time ago already: Making the camera
side of the OCSC2 WITH A FLASH GROOVE. I'm sure you've realized that sometimes
you want to have your flash just sitting on top of the camera and at the odd
moment taking it in your hand to move it somewhere arround. Wouldn't it be
GREAT if the flash side of the OCSC2 could 'sit' on the camera side of it?

I was an ower of a 380ex as well. After having got the 550ex I couldn't
recommend anything else... Think it twice!!
