And thanks to all who sent such interesting replies. This seems to be the
winner, as I have a monitor that was set at 16 bit colour. Changed to 32 bit,
and, presto! I don't see the problems either. Actually, I'm not sure why I have
it set at 16 bit colour, I know there was a reason linked to my computer
system, if only I could remember. I will probably find out soon enough, as I
will leave it set to 32 bit.
In answer to whether this had been saved and resaved as a jpg... no, it had
not. Just brought in as a high quality jpeg, then reduced for the web. They
are saved as psd files as soon as they are worked on.
But thanks again to all. My pictures look fine now to me, too, on the web.
