Since you guys are comparing G-1 and film, I'll mention an additional
benefit of the G-1.  With the 58mm filter adapter and a Tiffen 87 (infrared)
filter, you can use it to take infrared shots.  Put the camera on manual and
set the ISO to 50, shutter speed to 6 sec and F8.0 add a tripod and there
you have it (doesn't work in B&W mode).  Pictures come out almost grayscale
with the same looks as IR film, but no hassle of a changing bag.  Plus you
can review the shots right there and adjust as necessary.  Don't know if the
CMOS sensor on the D30 has the same sensitivity range for IR spectrum as the
G-1 CCD.
