I have a question about how to meter a scene. I am using a Rebel G. What I do is set it on aperture priority to set depth of field, then go to spot metering and meter on a portion that is dark where I want some detail ( zone 3ish) Then I note the shutter speed, go to manual and set the same f stop and adjust the shutter speed. (meter reading zone 5 to zone 3).
