As far as I know it's due for a small part to VAT rate and for a big part
to Canon's sales policy (and not only Canon in fact...). Prices has
increase a lot in France during the last 2 years. It has been terrible.
That's why so many french photographs buy their stuff (inclusing film) in
Germany, Great Britain or USA.
