Ken, I once bought a 55mm wide angle for my old Mamiya 330 TLR. The
trouble was, both lenses had chips in them, and most were close to the
center. In many images, you couldn't tell, but when there was a light, or
very bright spots in the photo, it flared.
It wasn't a bad thing all the time, it did give the image a nice effect
at times.
I suspect the coatings are damaged. What you could do is remove all the
coatings, using, say laquer thinner or something, and live with that.
Otherwise, I suspect you will get some flaring on bright light sources.
Let me know how it works out. It might make a nice soft portrait lens.
